Especially about the best hotels in Playa del Carmen and the Mayan Riviera.

Totally understandable, because accommodation is one of the most important considerations when planning your vacation to Playa del Carmen.

  • Which hotels are the best ones to stay at in Playa del Carmen?

So to help you out, we decided to create a quick list of the five top hotels in Playa del Carmen.

And because you’re here… we know you’re an adventurous foodie & traveller… so that’s why most of the hotels listed aren’t all-inclusive.

We want you to get out there and truly explore the area. Get your feet wet, try something exotic, and really tap into the magic of the Mayan Riviera!

And we know you’re craving to do the same. So, let’s get started!

The 5 Best Hotels in Playa del Carmen

1. The Viceroy

If I could pick only one word to describe The Viceroy, it truly would be ‘posh’.

Located about 10 km from downtown Playa del Carmen, this is absolutely the best option for people who crave that lush, jungle tranquility while still being right on the beach, away from the hustle and bustle that comes with vacationing right inside a city center.

And, another thing many people aren’t aware of, is that activities – from barbeques to yoga – are consistently on the resort.

The biggest drawback is that it’s not entirely family-friendly, and not entirely adults-only…

Apparently, they set their minimum age requirement at 14. So if you’re a family or travelling as a group, I would highly suggest reaching out directly to the resort to ensure compliance with “age requirements”.

2. Bric Hotel and Spa

Located on Calle 28 between Ave 5 and 10 lies a quaint boutique hotel with just 15 rooms. Because of the size of the hotel, coupled with the location, this is one of our absolute favorites.

Not too big that you feel like you’re in a small town (we’ve all been there with those massive resorts), and expertly positioned so that you’re just a short stroll from bustling 5th Avenue.

3. Le Reve

15 minutes from Playa del Carmen lies this cozy, intimate boutique hotel. With a private beach, on-site spa, garden and infinity pool plus authentic Mexican hospitality; something this hotel is particularly known for.

The best part is that it’s also on the smaller side with only 28 rooms, so this is a great option if you’re looking for less distraction and more relaxation.

4. Live Aqua Boutique Resort (Lat20)

Located on Calle 32 in downtown Playa del Carmen, Lat20 is known for being one of the top adults-only boutique hotels here in the area.

With all-inclusive options, a swanky rooftop and luxurious rooms, this is surely going to make your vacation a treat.

And, not many people know this, but they actually have some of the best food in the city.

So even if you just want to spend the day here at Live Aqua on their rooftop while eating top-notch cuisine, this is also a fabulous option for things to do in Playa del Carmen.

5. The Palm at Playa

Now if you’re someone that loves getting in on the action, soaking up everything that this urban center has to offer, then you’ll definitely want to keep reading.

Because of this, expect to find rooms with a modernized twist – reflecting Mexican culture and the contemporary lifestyle of this city.

The Palm in Playa del Carmen is known for being one of the top hotels in the area, especially because it’s right in the city center and truly has so much to offer.

From spa services and rooftop pool and jacuzzi, to airport transportation and complimentary breakfast and gym access, it’s hard to go wrong when staying at The Palm.
